Designed by Ronald Janssen Architects, SIMONSZ is inspired by the history of the neighborhood, the evolution of the street over time, and special features in the surrounding cityscape. Architectural details throughout the building and facade have thoughtful references to varied traditions in Amsterdam design.

SIMONSZ forms a distinct and modern presence in the street. With a design-minded approach, it has also embraced innovations in form and function to maximize the comfort and enjoyment of its residents.

Sjoerd Markx developed the interior design concept for the project.

Caren Pardovitch provided turnkey interior design for all apartments and common areas.

INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

The seasonal green walls in the atriums provide natural cooling in summer and improved air quality and acoustics. They have been cultivated and specially designed to attract native birds, bees and butterflies.

INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

The structure is off the gas grid. The building’s energy supply is generated by solar panels. Windows have solar control glazing, and apartments have climate control driven by a thermal energy storage system. Underfloor heating and cooling contribute to a comfortable and temperate indoor environment in all seasons.
